GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The seventh-ranked Furman women's golf team will compete at the Clemson Invitational this weekend at the par 72, 6,260 yard The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, S.C.
The 54-hole tournament will begin Friday at 8:00 a.m. The Paladins will tee off of No. 1 beginning at 8:45 a.m. and will play in a group with Purdue and Tennessee. Teams will tee off of No. 1 beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, and the tournament will conclude on Sunday with teams teeing off of No. 1 and No. 10 starting at 8 a.m.
Furman will be joined in the 15-team field by 35th-ranked Clemson, No. 38 Florida State, Harvard, Indiana, eleventh-ranked Michigan State, No. 46 Ohio State, 14th-ranked Oklahoma, No. 21 Purdue, 32nd-ranked Tennessee, Tulane, No. 34 Texas A&M, UNC-Wilmington, No. 30 Vanderbilt, and 31st-ranked Wisconsin.
The Paladin lineup for the Clemson Invitational includes seniors Jacqueline Bendrick, Alice Chen, and Reona Hirai, junior Haylee Harford, and sophomore Natalie Srinivasan. Freshmen Caitlin Cotterill and Madison Moosa and sophomore Marra Burton will compete as individuals.
Four Paladin players rank among the top-67 nationally. Srinivasan, the 2017 SoCon Freshman of the Year, leads the Paladins with a 72.3 stroke average and ranks 27th nationally. Harford, who earned WGCA All-America second team honors and was named to the Golfweek All-America third team after tying for eighth at the NCAA Championships last season, ranks 42nd and is second on the Furman team with a 72.5 stroke average. Chen, the 2016 SoCon Co-Player of the Year ranks 60th and holds a 73.0 stroke average, while Hirai currently holds a 67th place rating and a 73.5 stroke average.
