GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The ninth-ranked Furman women's golf team will compete at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate this weekend at the par 71, 6,160 yard Long Cove Club's Pete Dye Course in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
The 54-hole tournament begins Friday at 8:30 a.m. Furman will tee off of No. 10 at 9:20 a.m. and will play in a group with Northwestern and LSU. Teams will tee off of No. 1 and No. 10 beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, and the tournament will conclude with an 8 a.m. round on Sunday.
Furman will be joined in the 18-team field by No. 2 Alabama, third-ranked Arkansas, No. 6 Arizona State, Auburn, Baylor, No. 5 Duke, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, 13th-ranked Northwestern, North Carolina, No. 14 Oklahoma State, eighth-ranked South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, No. 20 Virginia, and 23rd-ranked Wake Forest.
"The Darius is consistently recognized as one of the best collegiate events in the country and always has a very strong field," said Furman head coach Jeff Hull. "This year is no exception, as six of the top 10 teams in the country are participating,
"Coming off of a win where everyone played well gives us confidence going into the event," continued Hull." Everyone on our team has played at the Darius before, so we are very familiar with the course and the pressure of playing in such a strong field. We are looking forward to the challenge...and the concert that Darius puts on!"
