GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman women's golfer Alice Chen has been named Furman's ScanSource Student-Athlete Leader of the Month for February.

A senior from Princeton, N.J., Chen won individual medalist honors and led the Paladins to the team title at the Moon Golf Invitational last week.  She is currently ranked third on the Paladin team with a 73.0 stroke average over 14 rounds this season.  Chen earned her third-consecutive All-Southern Conference citation in 2017 after placing among the top five finishers in five of 12 tournaments.  She was chosen the 2016 SoCon Co-Player of the Year and the 2015 SoCon Freshman of the Year.

A psychology major, Chen boasts a 3.4 GPA and has made the Dean's List each year during her career at Furman.  A member of the 2017 Southern Conference Academic All-Conference Team, she has also been named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll the past three years.

Chen was one of just 15 juniors named to the Senior Order for excellence in leadership, character, and academics at Furman.  She has served as a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes' (FCA) leadership team and worship team and worked as an FCA summer camp counselor in 2016.  Chen also led the Paladins' women's golf team's bible study in 2016.

The ScanSource Student-Athlete Leader of the Month Award was created in 2015 to honor Furman student-athletes who excel in the classroom, on the field, and in the community.  Chen will be honored along with the March recipient at the Furman baseball game versus South Carolina on April 24th at 7 p.m. at Fluor Field.
