GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The ninth-ranked Furman women's golf team will open the 2018 spring season at the Moon Golf Invitational, which begins Monday at the par 72, 6,309 yard Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Fla.
The 54-hole tournament, which is being hosted by the University of Louisville, will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday. Teams will play two rounds on Monday, with the second round immediately following the conclusion of round one. The tournament will conclude with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
Furman will be joined in the 13-team field by Augusta, Chattanooga, Kennesaw State, No. 24 Louisville, Maryland, Memphis, Michigan, Old Dominion, Rutgers, Southern Miss, South Florida, and Virginia Tech. The Paladins will play in a group with Louisville and Michigan on Monday and will tee off of holes one through four.
The Paladin lineup for the Moon Golf Invitational includes seniors Jacqueline Bendrick, Alice Chen and Reona Hirai, junior Haylee Harford, and sophomore Natalie Srinivasan. Freshmen Caitlin Cotterill and Madison Moosa and junior Marra Burton will compete as individuals.
"Everyone is excited to travel to Florida to get the spring season started," said Furman head coach Jeff Hull. "This is a unique opportunity in that everyone gets to play, five on the team and three as individuals. We have been playing well in qualifying, and everyone has been working extremely hard preparing for the season. Now it is time to show the efforts of that hard work."
