Chen & Srinivasan Tie For Eighth To Lead Furman In Opening Round Of Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Senior Alice Chen (-2) and sophomore Natalie Srinivasan (-2) each fired an opening round 70 to tie for eighth to lead the eighth-ranked Furman women's golf team in the opening day of the Landfall Tradition at the par 72, 6,166 yard Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.

Chen, a native of Princeton, N.J., started on No. 10 and birdied No. 11 to make the turn at an even 36 then notched birdies on No. 7 and No. 9 to finish the round at two-under.  Srinivasan, who hails from Spartanburg, S.C., also teed off of No. 10 and made the turn at one-under after carding consecutive birdies on No. 14 and No. 15.  She added an additional birdie on No. 8 to finish the round in a tie with Chen.  The Paladin duo is four strokes behind Ana Belac (-6) of Duke, who leads the field with a 66 after one round of play.  

Junior Haylee Harford (+2) is tied for 35th after carding an opening round 74.  Harford paced the Paladins with five birdies on Friday, including back-to-back birdies on No. 11 and No. 12.  Senior Reona Hirai (+6) scored a 78 with a birdie on No. 4 to tie for 80th, and senior Jacqueline Bendrick (+8) is tied for 89th after carding an 80 in the first round.  

Freshman Madison Moosa (+2), who is playing as an individual, is tied for 35th after scoring a 74 with three birdies in round one.

Fourth-ranked Duke (-11) leads No. 2 Alabama (-10) by one stroke after Friday's play.  No. 16 Michigan State (-6) is third, followed by ninth-ranked South Carolina (-3) in fourth.  No. 17 Purdue (+2) is fifth, just two strokes ahead of the Paladins (+4).  

The 54-hole tournament will continue on Saturday, with teams going off of No. 1 and No. 10 starting at 8:30 a.m.  The Paladins will tee off of No. 1 beginning at 9:15 a.m. and will play in a group with South Carolina and Purdue.  Admission to the tournament is free and fans are welcome.  Results and live tournament scoring are available via and
