MACON, GA. -- Sophomore Haylee Harford (-3) fired a final-round 69 to tie for individual medalist honors and lead the ninth-ranked Furman (+15) women's golf team to the team title Tuesday at the Brickyard Collegiate at the par 72, 6,269 yard The Brickyard Golf Club in Macon, Ga.
The win marks the Paladins' third team victory this season. Furman has finished among the top three teams at eight of nine tournaments in 2016-17.
Harford, who ranks 39th nationally and hails from Leavittsburg, Ohio, notched a team-high five birdies, including three on the back nine, to tie for first with Loy Hee Ying (-3) of East Tennessee State. The duo each posted a three-round total of 213 for the title.
Junior Reona Hirai (+4) carded a final-round 75 with three birdies to tie for 11th, while freshman Carly Burkhardt (+6) also scored a 74 with birdies on No. 7 and No. 13 on Tuesday to tie for 14th place. Freshman Natalie Srinivasan (+9) tied for 22nd after recording a 77 with birdies on No. 8 and No. 15 in the final round, and junior Alice Chen (+13) carded a 76 with birdies on No. 4 and No. 6 to tie for 31st.
The Paladins scored a four-stroke win over 21st-ranked Texas A&M (+19) and No. 42 Augusta (+19), who tied for second. Host Mercer (+28) led the field with a 291 on Tuesday to move into a tie for fourth place with Kennesaw State (+28).
Furman will compete at the Southern Conference Championships April 23-25 in Lexington, S.C.
