Greenville, S.C. – Freshman Stephanie Carlozzi (+12) carded a three-over 75 as Furman (+34) slid to third place after two rounds in the 2013 Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship at Moss Creek Golf Club's par-72 North Course in Hilton Head Island, S.C., on Monday.
Carlozzi, a native of Naples, Fla., birdied three of her final four holes to shoot a two-under 34 on the back nine and pace the Paladins to a second round 308. Fellow freshman Valentina Romero (+6) fired a 77 to hold a share of sixth place after 36 holes while senior Laura Wearn (+9) posted a six-over 78 to drop into a tie for 11th place. Senior Alexa Rancourt (+10), who also carded a 78 on Monday, is tied for 13th place.
Chattanooga fashioned a 12-over 300 during the second round to open a nine-stroke lead over second place UNCG (+30) with Furman in third place. College of Charleston (+42) holds fourth place with Samford (+45) and Appalachian State tied for fifth place.
Final round action will take place on Tuesday morning with the winner of the SoCon Championship earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
