Hilton Head Island, S.C. – Junior Laura Wearn (+15) carded a final round 73 to earn a fifth place finish and help the Furman women's golf team to a fourth place showing in the Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship at the par-72 Moss Creek Club North Course on Tuesday.

Wearn (79-79-73=231), who earned All-SoCon honors, notched a pair of birdies and just three bogeys during the final round of the 54-hole tournament to finish five strokes behind individual medalist Jordan Britt (+6) of Chattanooga.  Furman's Alexa Rancourt (+17), who finished third at last season's SoCon Championship and entered this year's final round in second place, finished in a tie for seventh after shooting a final round 82.  She also garnered all-league accolades along with senior Liz Wendt (+28).

Chattanooga (+57) fired a tournament-low 301 on Tuesday to edge UNCG (+60) by three strokes to earn the league title and an automatic bid to the NCAA regionals.  College of Charleston (+75), Furman (+86) and Appalachian State (+87) rounded out the top five teams in the 10-team field.
