Greenville, S.C. -- East Tennessee State (+48) posted a 28-over 316 on Saturday to maintain its hold on first place after two rounds in the Lady Paladin Invitational at the par-72, 6,160-yard Furman University Golf Course.
First round leader Sian Evans (+10) and Mayte Vizcarrondo (+12) each fired a seven-over 79 while Chloe Garner (+13) fashioned a six-over 78 to pace the Buccaneers. Second place Georgia State notched the low round of the day with a 24-over 312 to trim ETSU's lead to just two strokes. South Florida (+55) and Nova Southeastern (+60) hold third and fourth place, respectively, with Samford (+64) and Longwood (+64) tied for fifth after 36 holes.
Georgia State's Charlotte Lorentzen (+7) used a two-over 74 to jump into first place ahead of her teammate Charlotte Guilleux (+9) and James Madison's Nicole Sakamoto (+9) who are tied for second place. Furman's Laura Wearn, who posted a second round 75, is tied for fourth place just three strokes off of the lead.
The Paladins (+68) struggled once again in round two and slipped to ninth place after a 36-over 324. Wearn used an eagle at No. 2 to lead the host team with a 75 while senior Liz Wendt shot an eight-over 80.
Final round action in the 54-hole, 15-team tournament is scheduled to get underway with a shotgun start on Sunday at 9 a.m.
