Furman, Rancourt Stay In Contention At UNCG Starmount Fall Classic

Greensboro, N.C. -- The Furman women's golf team climbed into a share of third place while Alexa Rancourt's second round 75 dropped her into a tie for second on Monday in the UNC Greensboro Starmount Fall Classic at the par-71 Starmount Country Club.

Furman fired a 22-over 306 for the second straight round to move into a tie with host UNC Greensboro for third place, just six stroke behind tournament leader East Tennessee State (+38).  The University of Maryland (+43) holds second place, five strokes behind the Buccaneers.

Rancourt (+4), who held the lead after 18 holes following a first round 71, shot two-over on both the front and back nine to fall into a tie with UNCG's Fanny Cnops (+4).  The pair trail Georgia State's Charlotte Lorentzen (+2) by two strokes entering Wednesday's final round.

Senior Liz Wendt (+12) and junior Laura Wearn (+12) share 16th place after shooting 78 and 77 in the second round, respectively.

Final round action in the 54-hole tournament is set to begin Wednesday morning.
