Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman women's golf team opens its 2011-12 campaign when it tees off at the Cougar Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston, at Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, S.C., on Sunday.
The 22-team field at the season opening, 54-hole event includes nine teams ranked in the top-20 at the end of the 2010-11 season highlighted by the University of Alabama, Duke University, the University of Florida and defending tournament champion North Carolina.
Furman's lineup for the season opener consists of junior Laura Wearn, senior Liz Wendt, sophomore Aubrie Street and freshmen Daffodil Sanchez and Laura DeMarco. The Paladins, playing with Penn State and North Carolina State, are scheduled to tee off in the afternoon wave on Sunday beginning at 12:51 p.m. and will open second round play on Monday morning at 8:45 a.m.
The tournament concludes with round three on Tuesday morning at the par-72 layout.
