Baton Rouge, La. – The Furman women's golf team struggled to a second round 328 and fell into 17th place after two rounds at the LSU Classic at the par-72, 6,194-yard University Club on Saturday afternoon.
The Paladins (310-328=638), in 11th place at the start of the day, shot +40 and slipped six spots in the 21-team field after the team failed to post a score better than senior Stefanie Kenoyer's eight-over 80. The Lighthouse Point, Fla., native holds a share of 38th after two rounds.
The University of Alabama (301-300=601) climbed into a first place tie with Arkansas (305-296=601), Virginia (301-300=601) and first round leader Wake Forest (294-307=601) while Duke and Tennessee enter final round play one stroke off of the pace in a tie for fifth.
Stephanie Meadow (73-71=144) of Alabama posted a one-under 71 on Saturday to grab the individual lead just two strokes ahead of a four-way tie for second place at two-over 146.
Final round action in the 54-hole LSU Classic is slated to tee-off on Sunday morning.
