Chattanooga Moves Into Lady Paladin Lead On Saturday, Furman Drops To Seventh

Greenville, S.C. -- Chattanooga (305-308=613)used a second round 308 to grab a nine-stroke lead after 36 holes at the 39th Lady Paladin Invitational on Saturday at the par-72, 6,199-yard Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.  Furman dropped to seventh place after a 32-over 320 during a windy second round.

Scores soared in the second round as golfers struggled with the tough greens and windy conditions at the Furman Golf Club.  First round leaders Georgia State (302-320=622) slipped to second with a 320 while Nova Southeastern (307-318=625) and Rollins College (316-309=625) moved into a third place tie 12 shots behind Chattanooga.  Longwood (310-318=628) and Samford (308-320=628) rounded out the top five.

East Tennessee State's Sian Evans (74-75=149) battled through the tough conditions to move into a first place tie with Georgia State's Charlotte Lorentzen (73-76=149) at five-over par.  Sandra Changkija of Nova Southeastern and Christine Wolf of Chattanooga are just one shot behind with 18 holes to play.

Stefanie Kenoyer and Liz Wendt led Furman on day two of the Lady Paladin with each shooting seven-over 79.  Sophomores Laura Wearn and Alexa Rancourt are tied for 19th at 13-over after shooting 80 and 82, respectively.

The final round of the 39th Lady Paladin is set for a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
