Knoxville, Tenn. – Furman's Stefanie Kenoyer (73-73-70=216) fired a final round 70 to grab ninth place at even par while the Paladins (298-293=303=894) slipped to a ninth place finish at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Women's Championships at the par-72, 6,302-yard Holston Country Club on Sunday.
Kenoyer, a senior from Lighthouse Point, Fla., birdied two of her final three holes to claim a share of ninth with a two-under 70 while junior Liz Wendt (77-71-71=219) posted her second consecutive 71 to finish with a share of 19th place at three-over 219 for the 36-hole tournament.
The Paladins opened the day in seventh, but slipped to a ninth place finish shooting a 15-over 303 on Sunday. The host Tennessee Lady Vols (280-284-285=849) cruised to a 20-stroke victory over second place Arkansas (291-295-283=869) while Kent State, Mississippi and Notre Dame rounded out the top five in the 15-team field.
The Lady Vols' Erica Popson (67-69-71=207) and Mississippi's Natalie Gleadall (70-68-69=207) both finished at nine-under bar to pace the field.
Furman returns to action October 29-31, when it hosts the annual Lady Paladin Invitational at the Furman University Golf Course.
