Furman Finishes 14th, Wearn 10th At Season-Opening Cougar Classic

Hanahan, S.C. – Furman's Stefanie Kenoyer notched a team-best final round of 73 to help Furman to a 14th place finish in the Cougar Classic at the par-72, 6,210-yard Yeamans Hall Golf Club in Hanahan, S.C., on Tuesday.

The Paladins (304-297-308=909) carded a final round 308 to share 14th place with Penn State after entering Tuesday's round in 10th place.  Kenoyer (74-76-73=223), a senior from Lighthouse Point, Fla., played her final 10 holes at one-under to shoot 73 and finish in a tie for 29th at seven-over.  Sophomore Laura Wearn (71-69-77=217), tied for the tournament lead after 36 holes, posted a five-over 77 to settle for 10th place at one-over par.

North Carolina (285-285-290=860) claimed the tournament title finishing eight strokes ahead of second place Mississippi (300-284-284=868) with Oklahoma (293-291-288-872) grabbing third place.  Mississippi's Natalie Gleadall (75-69-67=211) used a third round 67 to finish at five-under par to claim a two-stroke victory over the Tarheels' Jackie Chang (72-69-72=213) and Casey Grice (71-72-70=213). 

The Paladins return to action September 26-28, when they travel to Greensboro, N.C., to take part in the UNCG Starmount Forest Fall Classic.
