The Furman Lady Paladin basketball team will begin Southern Conference play Saturday with a game against the Elon Phoenix.
The Lady Paladins enter Saturday's game with a 3-4 record, including a win over Rice and losses to powerhouses North Carolina and Vanderbilt, and in-state rival Clemson.
Furman holds a slight advantage in the series against the Phoenix, leading the all-time record 5-4. Last season, the Lady Paladins defeated Elon 59-54 in their home-away-from-home at the BiLo Center. Katie Johnson posted her first career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead Furman to victory.
The Lady Paladins are coming off a 58-52 loss to Clemson. Sophomore Kali Holtfreter led Furman with 16 points in the close loss.
Saturday's game is set for 3:00 p.m. and will be played in Timmons Arena in Greenville, S.C.
