Lady Paladins Ink Agin

GREENVILLE, South Carolina - Furman women's basketball coach Sam Dixon today announced the signing of Katie Agin of Duluth, Ga., to a National Letter of Intent.
A 6-2 post player our of Greater Atlanta Christian Academy, Agin averaged 11.0 points, and 8.0 rebounds while earning All-Region, All City, and All Metro as a senior. In addition, Agin totaled 53 blocks in her senior campaign and was named GAC Lady Spartan Player of the Year. She also connected on 53% of her field goal attempts and was named to the Region All-Tournament Team and earned Georgia All State Honorable Mention. In her GAC career, Agin totaled 905 points, claimed 655 rebounds, and tallied 173 blocked shots.
Her Greater Atlanta Christian Academy squad made it to the Elite Eight of the AA Tournament in both her junior and senior years, and won the 2005 Region 8-AA Championships.
"We are really excited about getting such a quality low post player," said Dixon. "Finding someone of Katie's caliber at this stage of the recruiting season is a testament to the hard work of our assitant coaches. Katie comes from a great program and is well coached. Her style of play brings an added dimension to this class."
Agin joins Katie Johnson (Dallas, Texas), Courtney Opie (Powder Springs, Ga.), Sarah Baker (Nashville, Tenn.), and Melissa Liebschwager (Memphis, Tenn.) in comprising the Lady Paladins' 2005-06 freshman class. Furman is coming off an 18-10 season in which it finished third in the Southern Conference.
