GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman standout guard Lee Stephens has been named All-Southern Conference in voting by league head coaches, it was announced today.

Stephens was among 10 players named to the squad as chosen by the league's 11 women's basketball coaches. On Monday she was honored as a first team All-Southern Conference choice in voting by the SoCon Sports Media Association. She is Furman's first all-league selection since 2005.

A junior from Cincinnati, Ohio, she averaged a team leading 15.6 ppg, good for second in the SoCon, and 4.3 rpg for the Paladins this year. In 29 games she shot 38.7 percent from the field, 34.5 percent from 3-point range, and 83.2 percent from the free throw line. She also tallied 90 assists and a team leading 67 steals, which ranks second in the league.

She registered a career high 34 points in an 82-68 season opening victory over Clemson and later matched it in a 83-74 loss to Western Carolina. She tallied 28 points, including 24 in the second half, in a 78-68 victory over Charleston Southern, and scored 26 in a 69-60 triumph over Wofford. She also drained a 3-pointer with three seconds remaining in overtime to give Furman a 66-63 win over UNC Greensboro.

Furman, which sports a 12-17 overall record and 6-14 league mark, opens SoCon Tournament play on Thursday against Appalachian State in a 3:00 p.m. game at Chattanooga's McKenzie Arena.
