Lady Tigers Rally to Defeat Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Senior D'Lesha Lloyd led three Lady Tigers in double-digit scoring as Clemson held on to defeat Furman 58-52 on Wednesday.

Down 22-31 after a first half that featured six ties, the Lady Paladins rallied in the second half to take the 46-44 lead in the final five minutes, following a set of good free throws from junior Katie Johnson.

Furman was able to keep the score within three points in the final minutes of the game, until sophomore Morganne Campbell made a pair of free throws to pull the Lady Tigers ahead by five. After another Clemson free throw, the teams had time to trade field goals before the buzzer, with the Lady Tigers winning by a final score of 58-52.

The Lady Tigers were led by senior D'Lesha Lloyd, with 16 points, while redshirt sophomore Christy Brown added 13 and sophomore Morganne Campbell contributed 10. Clemson shot 42.1% from the field, compared to Furman's 29.8%.

Sophomore Kali Holtfreter led the Lady Paladins with 16 total points and added two blocks. Junior Katie Johnson added 15 points and led the team with 9 rebounds.

With the loss, Furman falls to 3-4 on the season, while Clemson improves to 5-5.

The Lady Paladins host their final home game of 2007 on Saturday, December 15 with a match-up against Elon. The game will open conference play for Furman.
