Furman Tops Jacksonville State 88-76

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - Senior Chrissy Phelps led four Lady Paladins in double-digit scoring as Furman downed Jacksonville State 88-76 on Saturday.

The Lady Paladins led by as much as ten points during the first half, and kept the lead throughout the entire second half.

For the Gamecocks, Jolie Efezokhae and Danielle Beneby led the team with 17 total points each.

Junior Chrissy Phelps led the Lady Paladins in scoring, posting 18 total points and going 10-11 from the free throw line. Phelps notched her first double-double of the season, also recording 10 rebounds.

Kali Holtfreter scored 14 points for the Lady Paladins, while junior Sarah Baker was 3-5 in 3-pointers and added 13 points. Katie Johnson shot 5-10 from the floor and added 12 points to the winning effort, while also recording four blocks.

With the win, the Lady Paladins improve to 2-1 on the season, while Jacksonville State falls to 1-2. Furman returns to action on Tuesday with a trip to UNC-Asheville.
