Furman Overcomes Three-Point Cascade To Post 64-60 Victory

SPARTANBURG, South Carolina - Senior center Jen Nadalin poured in 23 points and claimed 10 rebounds to lead Furman to a 64-60 women's basketball victory over Wofford Tuesday night in Benjamin Johnson Arena.

The Terriers connected on 12 three-pointers, including four by Ricaye Harris and three each by Stephanie Ripberger and Mary Jo Yee. Though Furman led for most of the first half, the Terriers took the 39-37 advantage with 13:25 left to play in the second period. The Lady Paladins regained the advantage in short order, but the pesky Terriers moved ahead again with 8:42 to play when Yee sank a trey on an assist from Ripberger.

With the game tied for the sixth time and 4:45 on the clock, Nadalin sank two free throws to give Furman its final lead of the game. The Terriers made sure it came down to the wire, however, draining a three with 30 seconds left in regulation to cut the Lady Paladin lead to three. Tommi Paris put Furman back on top by five with a pair of free shots, but Nakia Mister sank a jumper with 14 seconds left to again cut the lead to three. Laney Harris hit one of two free throws with 11 seconds to go to seal the Lady Paladin victory and move Furman's record to 14-7 overall and 9-5 in the Southern Conference.

Nadalin went eight-for-10 from the field and seven-for-eight from the line in Tuesday night's victory, while claiming 10 rebounds and three steals for her best performance since returning from mono on Jan. 13 against Davidson. Mivvi Strickland contributed 10 rebounds and nine points to the Furman total, while Tommi Paris totaled 13 points and Laney Harris tallied 10. Freshman Chrissy Phelps topped Furman playmaking with four assists and also claimed a team-best five steals.

The Lady Paladins return home on Saturday for a 3 p.m. game against Appalachian State.
