STATESBORO, Ga. - Furman connected on seven three-pointers and shot 48.9% (23-of-47)from the floor in snapping a two-game losing streak with an 82-67 victory over the Georgia Southern Eagles Monday night in Hanner Fieldhouse.

The Lady Paladins used 10 first-half points from center Jen Nadalin to jump out to a 33-29 advantage at the half. Furman led by as many as 12 in the first period, when freshman Adrienne Gilmore was fouled making a layup, and connected on the free throw for an old fashioned three-point play. GSU responded with a 12-4 run to finish the half and pull within four with just six seconds left.

Senior guard Tommi Paris stamped her name on the second half, scoring 19 of her 24 points on the night in the second period. Paris went 13-for-13 from the line, including 11 made free throws after the break, and connected on three-for-five treys on the night. Though the Eagles pulled to within nine with 11:06 left in the half, Furman stretched the lead to 11 on a Paris layup at the 10:58 mark, and the Eagles were unable to cut the advantage to single digits for the remainder of the competition.

"We played very aggressive and with great purpose for the full 40 minutes," said Dixon after the game. "We got a lot of confidence from Tommi's play early and that contributed to our success tonight."

In addition to Paris's 24 points, Jen Nadalin added 16 and Princess Wells contributed 13, while Chrissy Phelps claimed three steals. The Georgia Southern Eagles were paced by Nicole Newton, who totaled 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Dana Benemon, who scored 11.

With the win Furman improves to 12-5 overall and 7-2 in the Southern Conference. The Lady Paladins will host Chattanooga at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, in Timmons Arena.
