GREENVILLE, S.C. -- With final exams now in the rear view mirror Furman's women's basketball teams hits the road to Florida for a pair of neutral site games this weekend against Ohio and Xavier in the West Palm Beach Invitational, hosted by Keiser University.

Furman's Saturday 2:30 p.m. clash with Ohio at the Countess de Hoernle Student Life Center on the Keiser University campus, will mark only the second meeting on the hardwood against the Bobcats, with the Paladins winning the first contest, 103-89, on Nov. 21, 2001, in Athens, Ohio.

Furman has also faced Xavier once in women's basketball, on Dec. 12, 1986, in a first round matchup in the University of New Orleans Invitational.  Xavier won that clash, 71-61.

The two games this weekend will be the Paladins' only two neutral site contests of the regular season.

Furman (7-3) is coming off a 84-56 loss to North Carolina on Sunday in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Freshman forward Celena Taborn's game and season high 24 points proved to be the lone real highlight for the Paladins, whose first quarter shooting woes (3x18 FGs) put Furman in 21-9 hole to the Tar Heels after one period of play.

Sophomore guard Le'Jzae Davidson was the only other Paladins to tally double figures, registering 10 of her 13 points in the third period.

Taborn finished the game connecting on 8-of-11 field goals (1x2 3PFGs) and 7-of-10 free throws, her 24 points representing the most by a Paladin freshman since current head coach Jackie Carson threw down 25 points in a 74-68 triumph over East Tennessee State on Feb. 13, 1997.

Ohio (5-3) claimed a 77-71 road victory over Purdue on Sunday in its last outing.

Live stats for both the Ohio and Xavier games will be provided by Keiser and accessible through FurmanPaladins.com.
