Furman To Entertain Yale Wednesday Afternoon At Timmons Arena

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's women's basketball team is looking forward to the Thanksgiving holiday, but before the Paladins sit down for the annual feast they will entertain the Yale Bulldogs in a Wednesday afternoon contest in Timmons Arena.  Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m. on YP Court.

Furman (1-4) is looking to get back into the win column after dropping road contests to Southeastern Conference foes Arkansas and Georgia, and a 71-67 verdict at the hands of future Southern Conference foe Mercer on Sunday in Macon, Ga.,

Yale (3-3) will wrap up a four-game road swing on Wednesday against Furman.  The Bulldogs fell to Miami (Fla.), 91-67, on Monday and to Fordham (80-52) last Friday evening after posting a 78-68 victory at Boston University on Nov. 19.

Wednesday's contest will be broadcast online by StretchAudio through Furman All-Access at www.furmanpaladins.com, with Bryant Lambert on the call.  The game will also be video streamed (subscription) through Stretch Internet and live stats presented through StatBroadcast.com — all available through www.furmanpaladins.com

The Paladins are paced in scoring by sophomore forward Holli Wilkins, who is coming off a career high 21-point performance against Mercer.  Junior forward Brittany Hodges is scoring (8.8 ppg) and leads Furman in rebounding (5.8 rpg).

Junior guard Sarah Halejian tops Yale's scoring chart (13.5 ppg) and is also chipping in 3.7 assists per outing for the Bulldogs.  Three players — guard Hayden Latham and forwards Meredith Boardman and Janna Graf — average 8.2 ppg apiece, and Boardman tops Yale in rebounding (8.0 rpg).

Furman claimed its only meeting with Yale in women's basketball, taking a 79-63 win over the Bulldogs in the consolation game of the Mr. Cookie Face Holiday Classic in Jersey City, N.J., during the 1996-97 season.

The Paladins will play host to Anderson this Saturday in a 2:00 p.m. game at Timmons.
