Created in 2000 with five original members, the Order of the Paladin began as a way to recognize those Paladin Club members who had gone above and beyond and given generously from their hearts. Its members are those who contribute annually at the quarter, half, or full scholarship levels. Today, the Order of the Paladin boasts forty-seven members whose generosity registers nearly half of all scholarship money received in the Paladin Club each year. Furman University has an annual athletic scholarship budget of over $5,000,000 so one can easily see why the Order of the Paladin is vital to the success of Furman's athletics program.

Members are honored by having their names displayed on the beautiful bronze plaque which is mounted on the entrance wall to Paladin Stadium. Each member is also recognized in Furman publications and the highlight of their recognition takes place at the annual Order of the Paladin dinner. At this event, members are able to meet various recipients of the Order of the Paladin scholarships and see first-hand the quality of Furman's outstanding student-athletes. At this dinner, members also receive a custom-forged, sterling silver medallion with the Order of the Paladin emblem to commemorate their membership in the group. Additionally, members are given four prime football and basketball season tickets and the best parking available at both Paladin Stadium and Timmons Arena.

The Paladin Club's success relies heavily upon the abounding charity of the members of the Order of the Paladin. Their generosity, along with that of over 1,500 other donors, allows over 300 student-athletes in 17 different sports to realize their Furman dreams. Each member of the Order of the Paladin is able to have an immediate impact on the lives of Furman's student-athletes as every dollar that is donated goes straight to athletic scholarships. Furman's student-athletes, who have finished their NCAA eligibility, graduate at an unprecedented rate of 99%. The vast majority of these men and women go on to be leaders in the community, the region, and even the nation. What better investment can one make than in the life and future of a young person?
