Three Furman men's tennis players competed at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships this weekend in Athens, Ga.
The doubles team of Ladyman-Walters was defeated by the team of Campos-Cressoni of USC, 9-8 on Saturday.
Junior Bo Ladyman lost in the first round on Friday to Will Ward of Kentucky, 6-3, 6-2. In the consolation bracket, he defeated Abdelnour (FAU) 7-6, 6-1, then continued on to top Santos (Winthrop) due to a walkover.
Sophomore Jordan Walters lost a tough match to Eliot Potvin of Georgia Tech in the first round, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5. In the consolation bracket, he was defeated by David Wolff of USC, 3-6, 6-2, 10-7.
Junior Daniel Knause had a very successful weekend, beginning on Friday by defeating William Lang of Tennessee, 6-0, 6-2. On Saturday, he topped Alex Alhgreen (ETSU), 4-6, 6-4, 7-6, then won due to walkover against Johannes Pulsfort of USC.
On Sunday, Knause faced John Peers of MTSU, at match which he won, again due to walkover. He then topped Drake Bernstein of UGA in the semifinals by scores of 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (ret.). Knause will face Josh Barela (UGA) in the finals of Div. II tomorrow.
