Athens, Ga. - Furman men's tennis player Andy Juc suffered a 6-2, 6-2 loss to the nation's top-ranked player John Isner in the opening round of the 2007 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Individual Singles Championships. Juc, the lone representative for the Southern Conference at the NCAA Championships, ends his sophomore season with a record of 18-8. Isner, who is 58-2, in his last 60 matches led the Georgia Bulldogs to an undefeated 32-0 season and a national title. He will advance to play Bassam Beidas of Pepperdine.

"This was a great experience," commented Juc. "While I didn't play my best, Isner was very good. I know what I need to do to get better to compete at a higher level."

Juc, the youngest Furman player to ever be selected to compete in the NCAA Championships, met Isner for the second time this season. A native of Chisinau, Moldova, Juc was the only SoCon player to rank in the ITA top 125 for singles, thus earning him a spot in the postseason. Juc was named first-team all-conference in singles and earned second-team honors in doubles.
