Men's Tennis Players Garner Southern Conference Accolades

Greenville, S.C. - Sophomore Andy Juc and senior Scott Kahler both garnered All-Southern Conference honors for their performance on the tennis court this season. Juc, Furman's top player, was named to the first team in singles for the second consecutive year.
Juc posted an overall record of 16-7 in singles action this season, including an 8-1 mark against league opponents. The native of Chisinau, Moldova, earned a national ranking as high as 68th in the country after he defeated 29th-ranked Kaden Hensel of Tennessee. Juc is currently ranked 86th by the FILA Collegiate Tennis Rankings. He has won four straight singles matches and ten of his last 11.
Juc and Kahler was also named second-team all-conference their doubles performance. The tandem compiled the most doubles victories of any pair in the conference with an 18-6 overall record. Juc and Kahler went 8-1 in league action and have a career record of 17-2 against SoCon opponents.
The Southern Conference also announced the March Athletes of the Month today, naming Juc the top performer in men's tennis. Juc tallied a 9-1 mark at number one singles last month, including a perfect 5-0 record against conference foes. He notched wins over then-45th ranked Georgia Tech and then-51st ranked Elon. The sophomore won eight of his matches in straight sets and lost four games or less in five of those matches.
Furman enters the 2007 SoCon Tournament as the three-seed. The Paladins face sixth-seeded Wofford tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 p.m., at the City of Charleston Farmfield Courts.
