Spartanburg, SC - Allen Simmons of Furman has been named the SoCon Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 22.

Simmons, a senior from Clinton, SC, posted three wins on the week, including league wins over The Citadel and the College of Charleston. Simmons started the week with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-0 win over John Houghton from 72nd-ranked Army on March 16. On March 19, Simmons kept to his winning ways as he defeated The Citadel's Daniel Dossetor, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. The next day Simmons downed Justin Malina of the College of Charleston, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3. Simmons is 5-9 in dual matches on the year, posting a 2-0 record in league matches at the number one position.
