Juc Named Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Spartanburg, S.C. - The Southern Conference announced that Furman's Andy Juc has been recognized as the Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March. 13.
Juc has had an outstanding start to the 2007 season, including an undefeated performance in singles and doubles last week. The sophomore clinched Furman's 4-3 win over No. 45 Georgia Tech with a thrilling 4-6, 7-6, 6-2 win over Jose Muguruza at number one singles on Friday afternoon. It was Furman's first win over Georgia Tech since 1993. Juc also teamed with Scott Kahler to post an 8-6 victory over the Yellow Jackets' Jordan DeLass and George Gvelesiani at flight three. The native of Chisinau, Moldova wrapped up the week with a 6-3, 6-2 defeat of Elon's Damon Gooch and an 8-2 doubles victory over Austin Fenn and Sebastian Bredberg. Juc has won four of his last five singles matches and has a seven-match winning streak with Kahler at number three doubles.
The Paladins will be back in action on Thursday, March 15 when they challenge the Indiana Hoosiers at 10 a.m. The match will be held on the campus of Clemson University.
