Men's Tennis Defeats Wofford, 4-0, in SoCon Tournament

Charleston, S.C. - The third-seeded Furman men's tennis team took the doubles point en route to a 4-0 victory over the Wofford Terriers in the quarterfinals of the 2007 Southern Conference Championships at the City of Charleston Farmfield Courts on Friday afternoon. The Paladins (17-10) have won five consecutive matches and 11 of their last 12. The Terriers end their season with a record of 12-8.

At number one doubles, Bo Ladyman and Brian Crook won their fifth consecutive match with an 8-2 victory over Andrew Stubbs and Alex Fridzon. All-SoCon honorees Andy Juc and Scott Kahler earned their 19th win of the season with an 8-6 win over Jeff Muthig and Scott Collins at flight three singles to give Furman the early advantage in the match.

In singles, Furman sophomore Michal Kociecki rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Christopher Williams at flight six. Juc defeated Stubbs, 7-5, 6-1 for his fifth straight win at the top singles position. Sophomore Bo Ladyman clinched the victory for the Paladins with a 6-3, 6-2 mark over George Kernodle at number two.

Furman will take on No. 2 College of Charleston in the semifinals tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. The match will take place at The Earle Tennis Center on the campus of The Citadel. CofC defeated Furman, 6-1, in the regular-season meeting.
