Spartanburg, S.C. - The Furman men's tennis team played its final regular-season road match very close to home, defeating their neighbors to the north, the Wofford Terriers, 5-2, in Thursday afternoon Southern Conference action. The Paladins (15-10, 6-2) have not lost to Wofford (11-7, 4-4) since the 1995 season.

Wofford took the early lead in the match, taking two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The Terriers won number two doubles, 8-5, but the other two matches needed tiebreakers to decide a winner. Furman's Brian Crook and Bo Ladyman pulled out a 9-8 (7-3) win over Alex Fridzon and Andrew Stubbs at number one. At flight three, Andy Juc and Scott Kahler suffered their first conference loss with a 9-8 (7-5) defeat at the hands of Scott Collins and Jeff Muthig.

In singles, it was all Furman as the Paladins won five of six singles matches in straight sets to earn the 5-2 win. Senior Chris Gilli kept his nine-match winning streak alive with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Fridzon at number four. Juc had little trouble with Stubbs, posting a 6-2, 6-2 victory at number one to improve to 7-1 in league action. Daniel Knause, Jordan Walters and Ladyman all posted singles wins for the Paladins.

Furman will honor four seniors on Saturday afternoon as Brian Crook, Ryan Friend, Chris Gilli and Scott Kahler all play their final matches at Mickel Tennis Center. The Paladins will host the Chattanooga Mocs in the final regular-season match of the year. Play begins at 1:30 p.m.
