Men's Tennis Rolls By the Bulldogs, 6-1

Charleston, S.C. - The 59th-ranked Furman men's tennis team began a three-match road trip with a 6-1 win against The Citadel Bulldogs in Southern Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Earle Tennis Center. Senior Ryan Friend secured the Paladins' (12-9, 4-1) sixth consecutive victory with his 6-4, 6-3 win over Martin King at flight five singles. The Citadel (2-15, 0-4) got its lone point of the afternoon from James Eason at number two singles.

Furman picked up the doubles point with wins at number two and three doubles. The Paladins' 57th-ranked pair of Bo Ladyman and Brian Crook defeated Frederic Petrilli and Martin King, 8-3, at flight two. Andy Juc and Scott Kahler continued to impress, picking up their 14th win of the spring with an 8-2 mark over Alberto Diaz and Derek Jose.

In singles action, Furman won five of six singles matches in straight sets. Michal Kociecki improved to 3-0 in league play with his 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Petrilli at number six. Daniel Knause picked up his 10th win of the season with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Derek Jose at the number four spot. After Friend secured the victory, Juc posted a 6-3, 6-1 win over Dossetor at the top position. The sophomore has yet to lose a SoCon match in his career. Chris Gilli moved up to number three in the lineup and topped Diaz, 6-2, 6-4.

Furman continues conference play against College of Charleston tomorrow at 1 p.m.
