GAINESVILLE, FLA. -- Penn State, ranked 55th nationally, handed #59 Furman a 6-1 loss Sunday in men's tennis action in the final day of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Gainesville, Fla.

Paladin junior Sawyer Duncan recorded a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win over Ryan Gormley at number one singles, while Furman's number three doubles team of junior Andrei Chvetsov and senior Jordan Walters picked up a 9-7 win over Taylor Cohen and Guillaume St-Maurice.

Freshman Carl Lundberg pushed St. Maurice to a tie breaker at number four singles, with St. Maurice taking the first set 6-4 and Lundberg winning the second set 7-6. St. Maurice posted a 10-6 victory in the tie-breaker to seal the match.

Paladins freshman Andrew Mellow dropped a close 6-4, 7-6 match to Cohen at number six singles, and teamed up with Duncan for a 9-8 loss to Ryan Gormley and Warren Hardie in the number two doubles spot.

The Paladins (0-2) will play Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla., Friday at 3 p.m.
