2007-08: Freshman Sawyer Duncan made an immediate impact for the Furman Paladins. In his rookie season, he posted a 15-7 singles record and went 8-1 in league play, primarily at the no. 6 position. His singles victories included wins over opponents from then-12th-ranked Alabama, then-26th-ranked Miami, and then-75th-ranked Elon.

Prep/Personal: Duncan completed his prep career at the Westminster Schools under head coach Wade Boggs. As a senior, he posted a 57-20 singles record in USTA competition. He reached the round of 16 at the USTA Winter Nationals and won the Southern Section in Memphis, Tenn. Duncan also placed third at the St. Lous Clay Court Championships and the Southern Indoor Tournament in Lousville. He was ranked as high as 65th nationally, 3rd in the Southern section, and 2nd in Georgia. Duncan earned a No. 32 ranking in the class of 2007 by tennisrecruiting.net. At Westminster, Duncan led his squad to an undefeated season as a senior, four consecutive region titles and four consecutive state championship titles. He was named the Atlanta Journal Constitution's Georgia Player of the Year as a junior and senior. Duncan also competed in squash for Westminster, posting undefeated regular season records as a sophomore and junior, and ending the year ranked as high as No. 20. Duncan was also named a College Board AP Scholar with Distinction.
