GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's tennis team will be looking for its eighth-straight win on Saturday when the Paladins entertain UNC Greensboro at 1 p.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center. Special give aways, including rubber bracelets, will be available for fans.
Over the years, Furman has been very successful on its home court. Over the past 16 seasons the Paladins have lost only 31 matches at home, posting an impressive record of 133-31 since 2002.
The match marks the 29th meeting between the two schools. The Paladins, who lead the series 23-5, defeated the Spartans, 5-2, in Greensboro last season.
Furman holds an 8-3 overall record and 1-0 SoCon mark after topping Georgia Southern, 6-1, on March 1. Paladin sophomore Ivan Mitric is ranked 87th nationally according to the latest 2019 Oracle/ITA Division I men's singles poll, which was released last week by the organization.
Junior Jake Bhangdia boasts an 8-1 singles record at flight four, and sophomore Drew Singerman is 9-0 in singles play. Four Paladin doubles teams are undefeated: Mitric & Munns (6-0), Bhangdia & Wilson (6-0), Atlevi & Singerman (5-0), and Roelofse & Steryous (1-0).
UNCG comes to Greenville with a 3-7 overall record and 1-1 SoCon mark. The Spartans, who beat The Citadel, 4-3, on March 4, lost to Southern Miss, 4-0, on Thursday.
