ATLANTA, GA. -- Georgia Tech swept the singles and doubles matches to top Furman, 7-0, Sunday at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex in Atlanta, Ga.
The Yellow Jackets won all three doubles matches by scores of 6-3. Phillip Gresk and Carlos Divar teamed up to defeat senior Jake Munns and junior Jake Bhangdia at flight one, and Cole Gromley and Pablo Schelcher beat junior Clarke Wilson and sophomore Drew Singerman at flight two. In the number three contest, Zummy Bauer and Joseph Gandolfo held off sophomore Ivan Mitric and rookie Henrik Atlevi.
At flight one singles, Furman's Mitric won set one, 6-4, before Gromley came from behind to take the next two sets, 6-1, 6-1. Georgia Tech won the remaining matches in straight sets. Divar downed Wilson, 6-1, 6-3, at flight two, and Andrew Li posted a 6-3, 6-2 win versus Munns at number three. In the number four match, Gresk outlasted Bhangdia, 6-3, 7-5, and Chris Yun defeated Atlevi, 6-4, 6-2, at flight five. In the sixth-seeded match-up, Schelcher recorded a 6-1, 6-2 victory over freshman James Roelofse.
Furman (1-2) will square off against Lipscomb Friday at 1 p.m. in Nashville, Tenn.
