GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's tennis team will play host to Charlotte Friday at 3 p.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center.
The Paladins (1-0) blanked South Carolina State, 7-0, Tuesday in the team's spring opener.
Over the years, Furman has been very successful on its home court. Over the past 16 seasons the Paladins have lost only 30 matches on their home court, posting an impressive record of 129-30 since 2002.
Friday's match marks the 21st meeting between the two schools. The Paladins defeated the 49ers, 4-1, in Charlotte last season to take an 18-2 series lead.
Charlotte comes to Greenville with a 2-3 record after beating Presbyterian and Winthrop, each 6-1, on January 12, and falling at Tennessee, 4-3 and 6-1, and at Alabama, 4-2, earlier in the week.
The Paladins return seven players from last season's team that posted a 19-8 overall record and a 5-2 mark in Southern Conference play. Furman head coach Kelly Jones guided the team to the finals of the league tournament in 2018 for the fourth time in five years.
Furman's Ivan Mitric was honored as the Southern Conference Men's Tennis Freshman of the Year in 2018, while senior Jake Munns earned an all-conference first team citation for doubles. Mitric was also named to the 2018 SoCon All-Freshman Team.
