Junior Year (2011-12): Droll recorded a 12-7 overall singles record and 6-2 SoCon mark, playing in the bottom half of the lineup. During a three-week span mid-season, he won six-straight matches, including five league victories. Droll won nine out of ten matches beginning with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number six singles at Winthrop on March 10 and concluding April 6 when he posted a 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 fifth-singles victory at College of Charleston. He picked up a 6-4, 7-5 win at number four singles versus Georgia Southern on March 25 and later tallied a 6-2, 6-0 win versus UNC Greensboro at number six singles in the opening round of the SoCon Championships. In doubles play, Droll posted a 10-7 overall mark and 7-2 league record. He teamed with Andrew Mellow at number two doubles for the majority of the season, claiming wins in nine out of 11 matches from March 18 through April 20, including an 8-2 victory at College of Charleston on April 6. Droll was named to the Southern Conference Academic All-Conference Team and the SoCon Academic Honor Roll.
Sophomore Year (2010-11): Droll recorded a 4-14 overall singles record and a 2-4 mark against league opponents, playing primarily in the four and five singles spots. He began the SoCon season with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at The Citadel at number four singles then notched a 7-6, 1-6, 6-3 win at number five versus Davidson. Droll opened the Southern Conference Tournament with a 6-1, 6-0 fifth-seed win over The Citadel. In non-conference action, he bested Army, 6-3, 7-6, at number five. Droll tallied three doubles victories on the season, the most impressive an 8-6 win in the third slot at #51 Clemson with partner Watson George. He teamed with Andrei Chvetsov for an 8-5 win versus Marquette and an 8-3 win at The Citadel, both at number two doubles. Droll was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll for the second-consecutive season.
Freshman Year (2009-10): Droll saw significant playing time as a freshman, posting a 9-6 singles record and 3-1 doubles mark. He tallied a 6-1 league record at number six singles and teamed with Andrew Mellow for a 2-0 mark against conference foes at number three doubles. Droll recorded singles wins over the College of Charleston and UNC Greensboro to end the regular season, then was leading 3-6, 6-2, 5-2 in a match that was unfinished against UNC Greensboro in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament. Droll was a member of the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
Prep/Personal: Tyler Droll trained at the Gary Grollman Tennis Academy in Atlanta and played under head coach Matt Oberstein at Peachtree Ridge High. A two-time Gwinnett Country Player of the Year, he set the school record for most singles wins. Droll was the 2009 recipient of the Greater Atlanta Sports Champion Award and was the 2008 winner of the Georgia Tennis Association’s Al Parker Scholar Award. He ranked among the top 20 players in the South. Droll is a member of the National Honor Society and was an AP Solar with Distinction. Tyler Droll was born on Oct. 14, 1990 in Marietta, Ga., to Steven and Melanie Droll. His brother, Bryan, is the captain of the swim team at Davidson. Droll plans to major in pre-medicine.
