Greenville, S.C. - The 23rd-ranked Furman men's soccer team will open its quest for a Southern Conference Tournament title hosting eighth-seeded Wofford in quarterfinal round action Saturday at Stone Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

The Paladins enter tournament play at 15-3-0 after handling Lipscomb 3-1 on senior day this past Sunday. The top-seeded Paladins, ranked second in the latest NSCAA South Region poll, downed Wofford 1-0 at Stone Stadium during the regular season.

Wofford has won three straight matches, including downing Lipscomb and Belmont last weekend to capture the South Carolina/Tennessee Challenge crown. The Paladins and Terriers have met in the SoCon Tournament four times, all in the quarterfinal round. Furman won the 1997 quarterfinal 4-0 before blanking Wofford 3-0 in 1998, 2001 and 2002.

The winner of Saturday's contest will advance to the SoCon semifinals in Greensboro, N.C., on November 16, to face the winner of Sunday's match between fourth-seeded Elon and fifth-seeded Appalachian State. The league finals are set for November 18, at UNC Greensboro Soccer Stadium.
