Greenville, S.C. -
The 18th-ranked Furman men's soccer team hosts the Elon Phoenix Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with an outright Southern Conference title and a number one seed in the upcoming league tournament on the line.
A Furman victory or a draw will clinch both the league title and top seed, while an Elon victory leaves the door open for the Phoenix and College of Charleston Cougars to earn a share of the league title and force a tiebreaker.
Furman, 13-2-0 overall and 6-0-0 in the SoCon, captured a share of its 18th SoCon regular season crown and first since 2002 with a 2-1 win at Charleston last Saturday. The Paladins enter Saturday's league finale with a 4-2-1 lead in the all-time series with the Phoenix.
Elon earned a regular season victory over Furman last season before the Paladins avenged the loss with a 2-0 win in the SoCon Tournament quarterfinals.
