Furman Soccer To Host Diadora/Spinx Furman Invitational Friday And Sunday

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Furman men's soccer team will play host to the Diadora/Spinx Furman Invitational this Friday and Sunday at Eugene Stone Soccer Stadium. Along with the Paladins, the tournament will feature the Louisville Cardinals, Harvard Crimson and 16th-ranked Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.
Tournament play begins at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with Coastal Carolina taking on Harvard. The Chanticleers enter the match 2-0 after wins over Anderson College and Furman. Coastal Carolina's Mubarike Chisoni has tallied four goals in two matches. Harvard, 8-6-3 a year ago, began the 2004 campaign with a 3-1 loss at Rhode Island on Tuesday.
The Paladins will open tournament play at 7:00 p.m. Friday against Louisville. Furman, 0-2-0, opened the season with a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Mercer before falling 2-0 to Coastal Carolina last Sunday. Louisville began 2004 with back-to-back wins last weekend before dropping a midweek match with Kentucky.
On Sunday, Coastal Carolina will battle Louisville at 11:00 a.m. followed by Furman vs. Harvard at 1:30 p.m.
