Barbour and Villalobos Tabbed Preseason All-SoCon, Paladins Picked Fourth

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Southern Conference men's soccer coaches tabbed Furman fourth in the league's preseason poll, it was announced on Wednesday. Furman senior Luke Barbour and junior Josh Villalobos were named to the 13-player preseason All-SoCon team. UNC Greensboro garnered six of eight possible first place votes to take the top spot in the preseason poll. The College of Charleston and Davidson recieved one vote each to claim second and third place, respectively. Barbour, a defender, helped anchor a Furman defense which surrendered 26 goals in 19 matches last season against one of the toughest schedules in Furman soccer history. Villalobos ranked third among all Paladins in 2003 with nine total points. The midfielder scored one goal and tallied seven assists on the season. Furman, 6-9-4 overall and 3-2-2 in the Southern Conference a year ago, open the 2004 regular season on September 1, hosting Mercer at Stone Soccer Stadium. 2004 Men's Soccer Preseason Poll 1.
