Furman Men's Soccer Downs Wofford 3-1

Spartanburg, S.C. - Furman struck for three goals, including two in the opening 35 minutes, to down Wofford 3-2 in men's soccer action Saturday night at Snyder Field in Spartanburg, S.C.
The Paladins scored the game's first goal when Jon Rydarowski headed home a Rhett Abraham corner kick at the 8:53 mark. Freshman Eliot Paschalis connected on a pass from fellow freshman Richard Jata at 32:51 to give Furman another tally before the teams headed into the locker room at halftime.
Wofford tightened its defense early in the second half before surrendering another Paladin strike at 76:41 when Sean Murray found Shea Salinas.
With just over six minutes remaining, at 83:54, the Terriers set up for a corner kick of their own. Mittmann served the ball to the near post where a diving Lowery headed the ball over Furman goalkeeper John Hanley for his second career goal. Hanley had replaced starter Alex Maslow at the 74:43 mark and collected one save on the evening. Maslow posted five stops in his time in the cage.
The Terriers drop to 3-13-1 overall and finish 0-6-1 in the Southern Conference. The Paladins improve to 6-8-1 overall and 2-5 in league action.
Wofford will next play at 2 p.m. Wednesday at UNC Asheville in Asheville, N.C. Furman will host Clemson at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
