Boone, N.C. - Senior Eliot Paschalis' goal in the 76th minute proved to be enough as 17th-ranked Furman remained unbeaten in Southern Conference play with a 1-0 triumph over Appalachian State in men's soccer action Sunday afternoon in Boone, N.C.

The win improved Furman to 12-1-0 overall and 5-0-0 in league play while Appalachian State dropped to 6-5-2 overall and 2-2-0 in the SoCon.

After an evenly played first half that produced few chances for either team, Paschalis broke the deadlock with his third goal of the campaign at the 75:01 mark. Chris Davis gathered the ball on the wing and sent a cross into the box that Paschalis put into the net from seven yards out for the eventual game-winner.

Furman managed an 11-8 edge in shots, including and 6-2 advantage in shots on goal, for the match. Senior Bryan Amos notched his eighth clean sheet of the season and Furman's 10th shutout of the year claiming two saves. The shutout, Furman's second of the week, dropped the team's nation-leading goals against average to 0.32.

Greg Walters kept Appalachian State within striking distance stopping five shots in a losing effort for the host Mountaineers.

Furman continues its three-match road trip on Wednesday visiting upstate rival Clemson for a 7 p.m. contest at Historic Riggs Field.
