Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's soccer team renews its instate rivalry with South Carolina when the Gamecocks visit Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium for a non-conference showdown on Tuesday night.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. for Armor Up Night and the Student-Athlete Kickoff Picnic will be held next to the stadium beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $5 at FurmanPaladins.com and at the Stone Stadium gate beginning one hour prior to kickoff. Season tickets, which include admission to all men's and women's soccer home matches and a Furman scarf for the first 100 fans, are also on sale for $30 at FurmanPaladins.com.
Furman enters Tuesday's contest at 2-3-0 after securing a 1-0 victory over Presbyterian in the Fourth Annual Quinn Game for Down Syndrome Awareness on Saturday night at Stone Stadium. Ben Hale recorded the shutout in goal and Laurence Wyke scored from the penalty spot to lift the Paladins to victory in the home opener.
Tuesday night marks the 40th meeting between the Paladins and Gamecocks with South Carolina holding a 23-10-6 series advantage. Furman fell, 1-0, in last season's meeting in Columbia, S.C. The Gamecocks are 1-3-0 on the season after dropping a 1-0 decision to CUSA foe Florida Atlantic this past weekend.
