Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman men's soccer team will cap its first week of preseason training on Sunday with a 7 p.m. exhibition match against 2016 national runner-up and second-ranked Wake Forest on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium.

The Paladins return six starters, but will look to improve on their 6-9-2 record from a year ago. Leading the group of returnees are sophomore forward Emery May (3g, 1a), junior winger Josiah Baker (3g, 3a) and fifth-year senior left back Dylan Rowe.

Wake Forest advanced to the NCAA College Cup finals last season before being edged on penalty kicks by the Stanford Cardinal.

Furman will continue its preseason with a contest at Winthrop on Thursday, August 17, before opening the regular season in the Aaron Olitsky Memorial Classic in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., August 25-27. The Paladins will face College of Charleston in the regular season opener on the August 25 and cap tournament play versus Georgia Southern on August 27.

The 2017 home opener at Stone Soccer Stadium is set for September 12, when the Paladins play host to the UNCA Bulldogs.
