Greenville, S.C. – Furman freshman Bobby Edet garnered Southern Conference Men's Soccer Freshman of the Year honors and five Paladins earned All-SoCon accolades, it was announced on Tuesday by the league office.

Edet, a native of Frisco, Texas, netted a team-high seven goals and added one assist in 17 matches while guiding the Paladins to an 11-4-2 record so far this season.  The forward has scored four game-winning goals, including the deciding tally in the final minutes of a 1-0 victory against nationally-ranked Elon.

Midfielder Martin Ontiveros was named All-SoCon for the third consecutive year and first team All-SoCon for the second straight season.  The Pharr, Texas, native has tallied four goals, including four match-winners, and totaled a team-best five assists.  Ontiveros scored with just 24 seconds remaining in regulation in last Saturday's SoCon first round match versus Davidson to keep Furman's season alive.

Edet, midfielder Michael Gandier, defender Trevor Haberkorn and goalkeeper Sven Lissek were all named second team All-SoCon.

Gandier, a 2012 NSCAA Scholar Athlete All-South pick from Hastings, Minn., netted his only goal of the season in a 2-1 win over ninth-ranked Clemson last month.  Gandier and Haberkorn helped anchor a stingy Furman defense that has allowed only 12 goals in 17 matches while posting 10 shutouts.  Haberkorn, a freshman from Keller, Texas, scored his first career goal versus Georgia Southern.

Lissek, a native of Sewau, Germany, recorded a 0.55 goals against average and nine shutouts in 16 starts in goal for the Paladins.  The sophomore garnered SoCon Player of the Month honors for both September and October.

Edet and Haberkorn also were named to the SoCon All-Freshman team along with rookie left back Dylan Rowe.  The New Braunfels, Texas, native played in all 17 matches in 2013 while scoring two goals and adding two assists.

Furman, ranked No. 29 in this week's College Soccer News Top 30, hosts the Southern Conference Men's Soccer Championship this weekend.  Georgia Southern and Elon square off in the first semifinal match at 5:30 p.m. on Friday with Furman set to face Wofford at 8 p.m.  Friday's winners will meet in the SoCon's championship match at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Stone Stadium.
