Four Set To Join Furman Men's Soccer For 2012 Season

Doug Allison

Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman men's soccer team will add four players, including two transfers, to its roster for the 2012 season, it was announced on Thursday by Paladin head coach Doug Allison.

The class includes freshman forward Chris Duggan of Galsgow, Scotland, North Carolina State transfer defender John Lung'aho, Wake Forest transfer goalkeeper Doug Ryan and South Mecklenburg High School standout Bennett Yort.

"We return a lot of players from last year, but we wanted to add some depth and quality with this class," said Allison, who led Furman to a 14-4-4 record and NCAA Tournament berth in 2011.  "This group provides us with some excellent quality and experience for next year."

Duggan, Lung'aho and Ryan all enrolled at Furman in January while Yort will join the Paladins this coming fall.  Ryan, a 6-foot-8 product of Statesville, N.C., has one season of eligibility remaining after helping Wake Forest to three NCAA Tournament appearances.  Lung'aho, a native of Little Rock, Ark., netted three goals as a freshman for the Wolfpack in 2010.

Furman is set to return 10 of its 11 starters in 2012, but the Paladins will have to replace All-Southern Conference goalkeeper Alec Kann who started all 22 matches during the 2011 campaign.
