Greenville, S.C. – Lou Yovino and Alec Van de Bovenkamp have been ranked among the top 35 freshmen in the country in Inside Lacrosse's final Division I freshman rankings, released earlier this week.

Yovino, the 2017 SoCon Freshman of the Year, was ranked 31st among DI freshmen. The Parkland, Fla., native finished the season with a team-high 26 goals, while adding an assist for 27 points on the year. Yovino scored in every game of his freshman season and his 26 goals tied the Furman single-season goals record.

Van de Bovenkamp was ranked 19th among Di freshmen. The Hinsdale, Ill., native finished the season with a 55.9% save percentage and turned in an 8.50 goals against average in 14 games. Van de Bovenkamp, the highest-ranked goalie on the list, turned in a season-high 17 saves in his first career start, a contest against reigning national champion and then-No. 1 North Carolina.

The Paladins finished 2017 at 7-8, most wins in school history, and won a share of the Southern Conference regular season championship.
